Thomas Jensen

Assistant Chief, 41 years FDNY service (retired)

Thomas Jensen is a Consultant at NY Fire Consultants with 41 years of service in the FDNY. He held the civil service rank of Assistant Chief and served as Chief in Charge of the Bureau of Fire Prevention. His expertise includes high-rise firefighting, developed over years of experience in Manhattan, and contributing to updates to the NYC Building and Fire Codes. He rose through the ranks by dedicating himself to extensive study and successfully passing promotion exams, eventually serving as Deputy Chief overseeing half of Manhattan before being appointed to lead the Bureau of Fire Prevention. He has completed the Fire Officers Management Institute and is a member of the FDNY Chiefs Association. His proudest moment was seeing his son become a firefighter before he retired. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, as well as fishing, hunting, and playing golf with friends. He advises future fire safety professionals to gain as much real-world firefighting experience as possible to guide their work in fire safety.
