Assigned to FDNY Division 11 in Brooklyn, Battalion Chief Feehan is responsible for overseeing operational and administrative duties of several units of the FDNY. In addition, Battalion Chief Feehan supervises building and fire code enforcement in conjunction with New York City’s Department of Buildings as well as the FDNY’s Fire Prevention Units.
As a certified instructor for NY Fire Safety Institute (NYFSI), Battalion Chief Feehan teaches courses in:
- Fire Safety Director
- Construction Site Safety Manager
- Sprinkler/Standpipe Operations
- Emergency Action Plan Director
- Building Operation Maintenance and Record Keeping
- Fire Guard
- BLS/CPR
Accomplishments
Battalion Chief Feehan has spent the last 21 years on active duty with the FDNY. During that time he has worked in all five boroughs of the city and gained a comprehensive understanding of the city’s diverse and complex building construction and code requirements. As a firefighter, he was assigned to the Department’s Special Operations Command where trained in Hazardous Materials recognition and mitigation, which included training from the Department of Defense and FEMA.
As an FDNY officer, Battalion Chief Feehan worked as Company Fire Prevention Officer and was responsible for inspections, recordkeeping, and enforcement of both new and existing construction projects as well as training new officers in fire prevention techniques.
Battalion Chief Feehan has been an instructor at the FDNY Training Academy, training both new recruits and veteran firefighters in firefighting operations as well as hazardous material operations.
